Palo
Alto, CA., June 3, 2004
Digital Video Systems (DVS/Nasdaq: DVID) today stated that its Korean
subsidiary DVSK (Kosdaq: DVS) has announced that it is now shipping
the DVD-Portable Player Model VXM-2200 to customers in the automotive
aftermarket.
DVS Chairman and CEO Thomas A. Spanier commented, “The DVD model
VXM-2200 is mounted either vertically or horizontally in car interiors
and can be easily removed by the consumer for use at home as a portable
DVD player. It can withstand the intense vibration and temperature
extremes associated with vehicle use.”
Production of the VXM-2000 series of portable players was initiated
in 2003 by DVSK and the VXM-2200 is the latest model in that series
to be launched. “DVSK has advised us that they are also in production
on the new VXM-3000 series of portable players,” said Spanier,
“which includes a built-in LCD display. As 2004 progresses,
we hope to be able to announce further new DVSK products based on
proprietary technology built around DVSK’s rugged automotive
loader.
"We believe that DVSK’s patented error-correction technology
and vibration resistance designs enable DVSK to develop superior products
for the automotive market, and we are optimistic that they will be
well received by the automotive industry worldwide."
The DVS line of automotive DVD units, depending on the model, features
flexible mounting at any angle, superior shock resistance and patented
error correction, multiple media capability (8 cm as well as the standard
12 cm discs), the ability to read the full range of DVD, CD, and MP3
formats, slot-in loading, and support for several types of input/output
connections.
