Mali Kuo,
Chairwoman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer
Ms. Kuo is 52 years old and is previously served as the Chief Executive Officer
and Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors of DVS from 1999 to 2001. During her tenure, Ms. Kuo raised approximately
$15 million in financing for DVS and was active in developing Asian business opportunities.
Douglas T. Watson,
Director and Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Watson has been a member of the DVS Board of Directors since November 1998, the year in which he successfully
facilitated a $6 million dollar investment from Oregon Power Lending Institution (OPLI) enabling DVS to acquire the
Hyundai Electronics DVD unit, its intellectual properties, patents and management team which later became DVS Korea.
Mr. Watson served on the DVS Executive Committee from November 1998 to March 2002, becoming CEO in February 2002.
Prior to joining DVS, Mr. Watson held the role of President and CEO of Astoria Metal Corporation (AMC), a California
based ship repair and dismantling firm he founded in 1992. AMC and affiliated companies were responsible for multi-
million dollar contracts with major oil and gas companies such as Chevron and BP for oil tanker repair projects and
other required assignments. During the 80s Mr. Watson served in the Far East as a consultant to Exxon Corporation.
Professor Mali Gong, Director
Professor Mali Gong has been engaged in laser technology and application for twenty years.
He has presided over twenty research projects. He is also a pioneer on the study of the eye-safe optical
parametric oscillator (OPO) in China.
At present, Professor Mali Gong is the Director of the Center for Photonics and Electronics of Tsinghua University.
As the Chief of the photonics expert team, he is in charge of the national laser development plan. Professor Gong is
also the chief scientist of the National Keystone Basic Research Program-fundamental researcher on fiber laser.
He is in charge of two international collaboration projects, namely 'violet fiber laser' and 'laser communication
technologies applied for intelligent transport systems'.
